HISTORY
The idea for SELF IMPROVEMENT ONLINE began in March of 2003, after a meeting with a long-time friend, Bruce Boyd, the founder of Love-Scent.Com. Bruce introduced me to the potential of e-commerce and the success he had enjoyed in the online world. I was intrigued with the freedom and success he had running a thriving internet business providing valuable information and products to consumers worldwide. His Pheromone Products are reviewed on this site and have received world-wide acclaim and praise.
Bruce and I discussed the need for a website dedicated to self improvement topics and issues which would provide a strong positive influence in the online world to help counter the extreme negativity that can be found on the internet.
I felt the need for unbiased, objective evaluation and reporting of self improvement products, issues, and topics. After more than a year of extensive research and preparation, I contacted Don Nelson, an accomplished web developer, editor, self improvement teacher, and social worker about collaborating on SELF IMPROVEMENT ONLINE. In December of 2004, after approximately four months of writing, SELF IMPROVEMENT ONLINE was published.
Personally, I have led an alternative lifestyle for more than 30 years, practicing yoga and meditation as well as following a vegetarian diet. Self Improvement has been not only a way of life for me, but also a life-long journey.
“As you think, so you become.” This is the psychological principle that lies behind the power of positive thinking and has been a guiding principle in my life. I believe every human being has unlimited potential and that the only thing preventing us from reaching this potential is the limiting thoughts in our minds.
Prior to establishing New Age Alternatives and the 7 websites it runs, I worked in the field of social work administration and special education. My social work and special education background/education as well as my bilingual communication skills have enabled me to meet the diverse needs of high-risk teenagers in an effective and professional manner.
My education, which includes a B.A. in Psychology and Education, a Masters Degree in Social Work, and graduate work in special education, has been extremely beneficial in helping improve myself and others through self help techniques and theory.
